Seeram Ramakrishna
Academic Seeram Ramakrishna is a Xinghua Distinguished Professor and Director of the iWearables Center at Tsinghua University (https://www.me.tsinghua.edu.cn/en/info/1251/2151.htm). Tsinghua University is considered the number one engineering university in the world. He is an adjunct professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He is an interdisciplinary pioneer pushing nanotechnology for diverse applications. He ranks 11th globally in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (Elsevier | Stanford list). He has been named one of the World’s Most Influential Minds (Thomson Reuters) and a Senior Scholar (GPS Scholar), with over 500 articles in Q1 journals, an H-index of 222, and 231,800 citations. His contributions have also been published in journals such as Nature, Nature Reviews Methods, Nature Communications, Matter, among others. Among his highest professional distinctions are the titles of Member and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; the Royal Academy of Engineering of the United Kingdom (FREng); the Singapore Academy of Engineering; the National Academy of Engineering of India; the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology; the International Academy of Engineering and Technology; the International Academy of Bionic Science; and the World Academy of Artificial Consciousness. He is also an elected member of AAAS, ASM International, ASME, AIMBE (USA); IMechE and IoM3 (UK); ISTE (India); IUBSE (FBSE) and ISBE. He obtained his doctorate from the University of Cambridge (UK) and the TGMP title from Harvard University (USA). He gained experience in advanced research at MIT and Johns Hopkins University (USA) and KIT (Japan). He is a distinguished alumnus of IIT Madras. His senior academic leadership experiences include the position of Vice President (Research Strategy) at NUS; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at NUS; Director of NUS Enterprise; Director of the NUS Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Initiative (NUSNNI); and Founder of the Global Council of Deans of Engineering. He is a proponent of the internationalization of higher education and interdisciplinary research and innovation.
